The Food Scraps Pickup Program is a new way for residents of Ramsey and Washington counties to recycle food scraps from home. The program is rolling out over multiple years and will be available to all residents of the two counties by the end of 2027.

The program is currently available to all residents of the following municipalities: Afton, Bayport, Baytown Township, Birchwood Village, Cottage Grove, Dellwood, Denmark Township, Grant, Grey Cloud Island, Lake Elmo, Lake Saint Croix Beach, Lakeland, Lakeland Shores, Landfall, Maplewood, Mahtomedi, Newport, North Saint Paul, Oakdale, Oak Park Heights, Pine Springs, St. Maryโs Point, St. Paul Park, Stillwater, Stillwater Township, West Lakeland Township, Willernie and Woodbury.
The program will be available to all residents of the following municipalities starting July 6, 2026:
Ramsey County: Arden Hils, Gem Lake, Little Canada, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake and White Bear Township
Washington County: Forest Lake, Hugo, Marine on St. Croix, May Township and Scandia
The provided content should not be shared with residents in these communities until July 6, 2026. Residents in these communities will not be able to sign up for the program until July 6, so waiting to share materials until on or after this date will minimize confusion.

If thrown in the trash or recycling, batteries can catch fire and pose a threat to people and property. Promote the safe disposal of batteries.

In the U.S., households waste approximately 30-40% of the food they purchase. Encourage residents to reduce household food waste.
