Business Pollution Prevention Program
The Business Pollution Prevention Program offers technical and financial assistance to help you:
Reduce the use of harmful chemicals
Transition to safer, more sustainable chemicals
Install less polluting, higher-efficiency equipment
Consider working with us if your business uses or produces any of the following:
Chemicals with volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
Perchloroethylene (PERC)
Trichloroethylene (TCE)
Ground level ozone
Fine particulate matter (PM2.5)
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs)
And more!
Why your business should participate:
Free technical assistance. Work with Waste Wise (a Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy partner) to identify projects, chemical alternatives, and equipment upgrades.
Get help every step of the way. Waste Wise will help you apply for funding, identify matching fund sources, and submit pre- and post-project documentation.
Reduce risk. Make changes that can improve the environment and reduce workplace and community health risks. Priority is given to businesses owned by people of color and/or those located in communities particularly vulnerable to pollution.
Reduce costs. Minimize hazardous waste fees and save on energy costs with newer and more efficient equipment.
It looks good. Show your employees, customers, and neighbors that your business cares about environmental health.
Get up to $50,000 or up to 75% of project costs. Apply anytime.
The Business Pollution Prevention Program has supported many types of projects, including:
Auto body shops upgrading equipment and switching to waterborne paints to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
Manufacturers implementing solvent recyclers to reduce chemical consumption and hazardous waste
Dry cleaners decommissioning and or/replacing perchloroethylene (PERC)-based cleaning systems
