Food Recovery Grants


Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy (R&E) is offering grants to support programs that recover surplus, edible food from businesses, organizations and/or farmer’s markets for distribution to people in need. These grants are open to non-profits, community organizations and businesses interested in recovering surplus food in Ramsey County in 2021.

Grant awards will vary in amount, depending on the organization’s capacity and needs. Eligible expenses include:

  • Materials needed for food recovery activities, including collection materials (boxes, bags, etc.) and materials to assist with food mobility (carts, pallets, etc.)
  • Storage costs, including rental and/or equipment purchase for storage
  • Transportation costs, including vehicle rental if necessary
  • Staffing costs related to food recovery/gleaning work

Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2021. Guidelines and applications are available in multiple languages below.
